Originally from Gander, Newfoundland, pianist Megan Thibeault’s musical endeavours have brought her to study across Canada. She is currently studying at the University of British Columbia under the tutelage of Corey Hamm, a previous Eckhardt-Gramatté prize winner. She earned her Bachelors degree from Acadia University, studying with Ronald Tomarelli, as well as her Masters degree with acclaimed pianist David Jalbert at the University of Ottawa. She has further pursued instruction with pianists Simon Docking, Maneli Pirzadeh, Benjamin Pasternack, Jane Coop, and André LaPlante.
As a chamber musician, Megan has performed with the Ottawa Chamber Orchestra and toured with the Acadia University Wind Ensemble. She has competed at the National Music Festival as a member of the Acadia Piano Trio. She has competed as a soloist in the Canadian Music Competition as well as the Atlantic Young Artist Competition. Megan is also an avid Balinese gamelan performer.
